Postseason play is about finding a way to advance and No. 3 College of DuPage made sure it did, defeating Madison 3-0 in the Region IV semifinal Thursday night.
Â
COD took out the WolfPack, winning 25-20, 25-14, 25-17 and improved to 28-3 overall.
Â
The Chaps now advance to Saturday's Region IV title match at home where they will face Joliet. First serve is noon with the winner advancing to next month's NJCAA National Championship in Rochester, Minn.
Â
N4C MVP
Chloey Myers demonstrated her prowess, leading the way with 15 kills, along with three service aces. On defense, she had 13 digs and one block solo.
Â
Alyssa Fountain was next line with 12 kills, with
Olivia Witek adding seven kills.
Â
The Chaps, now 28-3 overall, took control in each set, leading 14-4 in the first, 8-1 in the second, and 8-0 in the third.
Â
But how COD responded when Madison closed the gap in each set is what impressed head coach
Tolis Koskinaris.
Â
"Not sure how we start, but a strength of our team is how we respond when teams close in on us,'' he said. "When we get squeezed, it seems that it lights a fire and we answer.''
Â
Koskinaris credited Myers, along with Fountain,
Akira Lebron, Witek and setter
Ashley Bylsma.
Â
"No doubt, when we needed a point, Chloey came through for us,'' he said. "And we had big nights from Alyssa, Akira and Olivia. Ashley was as balanced as she's been all year. This was a complete win with many stepping up when we needed it.''
Â
Jaidyn Tan led the Chaps in aces with four.
