Freshman Nicholas Keeling took control for COD during Saturday's Aurora Spartan Classic, finishing 15^th in the 8,000-meter race at the Northwestern Medicine course in Geneva.
 
Keeling, who went on to earn this week's USTFCCCA athlete of the week honors for NJCAA D3 competitors, finished in 26 minutes, 48.1 seconds. He averaged 5:24 per mile.
 
COD was the top D3 team in the race with pack running coming into play. The Chaps' Nos. 2-5 athletes finished within 40 seconds of each other.
 
Randy Almarales was 63^rd (28:16.1), Anthony Eddy 64^th (28:19.8), Sebastian Esparza 91^st (28:56.9) and Sheldon Powell 93^rd (28:57.0).
 
The Chaps are at Olivet Nazarene's Midwest Intercollegiate on Friday.
