Kevin Diederich won going away with the Region 4 title Saturday afternoon, guiding the defending NJCAA champion Chaparrals at Geneva's Northwestern Medicine Cross Country course.
 
Diederich won the 8,000-meter race in 26 minutes, 51.50 seconds and outdistanced runner-up Andrew Ciarlette of Joliet Junior College by nearly 30 seconds.
 
The Chaps finished third with 54 points in the team portion, behind champion Harper's 30 and runner-up Joliet's 51.
 
Tim O'Leary was 11^th (28:55.20), followed by Addisu Wolski (12^th, 29:00.70), Connor Vine (14^th, 29:15.40), Patrick Hohe (16^th, 29:25.50), John Buchanan (18^th, 30:23.70), Connor Sisco (21^st, 30:53.90), Matt Fitzgerald (26^th, 33:54.70), Travis Oesterreich (28^th, 35:10.60), and Matthew Heinberg (30^th, 35:49.10).
 
The Chaps next compete at the NJCAA Championship on Nov. 11 in Huntsville, Ala., and remain in Huntsville for the Half Marathon Championship on Nov. 14.
