For the second straight year, All-American Kevin Diederich won the NJCAA Region 4 title. His effort also led to the Chaparrals earning the regional team title.
 
Diederich's winning time of 26 minutes, 19.7 seconds led the way as COD totaled 26 points Saturday in Lockport and hosted by Joliet JC.

Harper followed with 45 and Joliet Junior College third with 57.
 
The Chaps placed all five of their top runners in the top eight. Miguel Capulin was fourth and also earned all-region honors.
 
"Our top guys ran together with confidence and in control from the outset,'' head coach Mallory Dominguez said. "Kevin ran strong and Miguel followed with a great race.''

The Lockport Township HS course set up as flat, with sharp 90 and 180-degree turns.

"We ran with confidence and it showed,'' Dominguez said. "We've positioned ourselves well for nationals.''

The NJCAA championship is Nov. 9 in Richmond, Va. The Half Marathon championship is three days later in Richmond.
