Barry Froehle

Barry Froehle enters his fourth season as head coach for the Chaparrals softball program in 2025-2026. Coach Froehle led the Chaparrals to a Region 4 Championship in his first two seasons at the helm in 2023 and 2024 and has amassed an overall record of 62-47.  

In 2023, Froehle led the Chaps to the Region 4 championship with All-Americans Kelsey Warren and Amber Dasenbrock. The Chaps finished 27-11 overall, won the N4C title with a 7-1 record and played host to the NJCAA Great Lakes District championship. He was named Region 4 and N4C Coach of the Year.

The 2024 season saw COD repeat as Region 4 champions, with one All-American, OF Abigail Collins.

COD finished 23-17 in 2025 with freshman OF Julia Colorato earning All-American honors.

Froehle entered his first season as an assistant coach for the Chaps in 2013. He served as an assistant coach for men's basketball for 10 seasons (2011-20) and also women's basketball (2013-16).

Prior to his coaching career, the Des Moines, Iowa, native worked in fire sprinkler design for 15 years. He makes Sugar Grove his home with his family. His special interests include prioritizing mental health in student-athletes and promoting awareness of special needs students, particularly those with hearing loss and deafness.
