A third-quarter push put the Chaparrals at a disadvantage in their 63-46 loss to visiting Elgin Community College in NJCAA Region IV women's basketball Tuesday night.

The Chaps held control in the first half, leading 18-14 at the end of the first quarter and 29-24 at the break. But the Spartans took control in the third quarter, outscoring the Chaps 24-10.
 
Nichele and Jaylyn leading
Nichele Lodree led the Chaps in scoring with 19 points. She also had four rebounds and three steals. Jalyn Grant added 10 points with eight rebounds. Lauren Day scored six points and Allycia Ellis five with eight rebounds.

The Chaps (3-4 overall) are at Morton College on Thursday afternoon. Tipoff is 5 p.m.
