The Chaparrals played sound basketball on both ends of the court in the first quarter, but could not sustain the effort in their 82-43 loss to Waubonsee College on Saturday afternoon in NJCAA women's basketball.

Nichele Lodree was the only Chaparral who scored in double figures, pouring in 16 points on 7 of 24 shooting. Guard
Jessica Schoder was next with eight points and
Jaylyn Grant followed with six.
Lauren Day had five and
Allycia Ellis and
Brianna Floyd each had four.

The first half
The Chaps trailed 14-7 in the early going of the first quarter and then rallied behind Lodree and Day. The pair ran off a 6-0 run in the final two-plus minutes and the Chaps were within a point of the lead at 14-13. Floyd gave the Chaps a 19-16 lead with a pair of free throws with 6:29 left in the second quarter, but the Chiefs finished the quarter on a 17-0 run and they were never threatened again.

The Chaps (3-6 overall) are off for the Thanksgiving break and return to action Dec. 3 at home against Kishwaukee College.
