Freshman Nichele Lodree scored a game-high 20 points and fellow freshman Jaylyn Grant added 15 in the Chaparrals' 77-56 loss to visiting Black Hawk College in NJCAA Region 4 women's basketball Thursday night.
 
Late first quarter
Leading 12-9 with 4:22 to go in the first quarter, the Braves took command. They followed with a 12-0 run and remained ahead by double digits the rest of the game.
 
Second half
COD played much better basketball in the second half when they were outscored 42-36 in the final 20 minutes.
 
In double figures
Sophomore Allycia Ellis joined Lodree and Grant in double figures with 10 points. Lauren Day added eight and Jordan Buchelt three.
 
What's next?
The Chaps (3-9 overall) are at College of Lake County on Saturday.
