College of DuPage had its share of difficulties against Rock Valley all season long and Saturday night's match-up provided more of the same.
Â
The Chaps played a sound first half, but the second half played into the visiting Golden Eagles' favor as they handed COD a 73-56 loss in the NJCAA Region IV Division III semifinals.
Â
The Golden Eagles outscored the Chaps 19-4 in the first 11 minutes of the second half and never let the Chaps closer than 14 points in their season-ending loss.
Â
Sophomore
Patrick Shaughnessy led the Chaps with 14 points and
Latron Kirkwood added 11.
Khyre Hines had eight and
Evan Wagner-Talley and
Joe Bell each had six.
Â
COD lost all three of its meetings against Rock Valley and for the second consecutive week, the Golden Eagles jumped out of the gate and controlled play the entire second half. COD was outscored 37-14 in the final 20 minutes of last Saturday's 57-30 loss.
Â
The Golden Eagles move on to Sunday's title game against Madison College.
Â
The Chaps finished the season 8-22 overall.
