Friday 13th? No way for the Chaps in sweep

The Chaparrals concluded their shortened Spring Break trip with a pair of wins Friday, defeating Rainy River College 7-5 and Williston State 8-7 in Titusville, Fla.
 
COD's trip was shortened due to the NJCAA mandate regarding COVID-19. All NJCAA-sponsored sports are suspended beginning March 14-April 3.
 
Chaps 7, Rainy River 5
The Chaps took control in second, scoring three runs on three hits. Vincenza Zaccaro doubled in Alyssa Vansickle (single), followed by Sydney Sturino's run-scoring triple. Sarah Crosby's infield ground out brought in Sturino.
 
Leading 4-2 through four, Ashley Eiermann's RBI single scored Gaby Morales, and one batter later, Vansickle's single scored Jocelyn Leerschen.
 
Vansickle had three hits and Eiermann and Zaccaro each drove in two runs.
 
Eiermann struck out six in 4 1/3 innings of relief.
 
Chaps 8, Williston State 7
Vansickle made the Chaps victorious for the second time on the day, thanks to her one-out, walk-off RBI triple that scored Brianna Sleboda.
 
The Chaps led 7-4 through six innings before the Tetons came back and tied the game with their three-run, three-hit seventh.
 
Leerschen tied the game at 3-3 with a two-run home run in the third.
 
Kelsey Warren led with three hits and Morales and Leerschen each had three RBI. Morales joined Vansickle and Leerschen in extra-base hits with her RBI double in the first.
 
Vansickle earned the start and struck out four in 4 innings. Eiremann threw 3 innings of relief.
