Box Score More than 75 minutes of back-and-forth play without a goal came to an end on a Blazo Jovicevic score and the Chaps earned a stellar effort from goalkeeper Joseph Mazariegos in a 1-0 victory over Elgin in Region 4 soccer Saturday afternoon at Bjarne Ullsvik Stadium.
 
The victory snapped the Chaps' losing streak at four as they improved to 6-9 overall. They next play Saturday afternoon at home against Carl Sandburg.
 
The Chaps played solid on both ends of the field, but could not get the edge until the 76^th minute when Jovicevic punched a shot for the tally.
 
At goalkeeper, Mazariegos, who stepped into the starter's role after regular Juan Hernandez was injured earlier in the week. He earned the shutout with fine play at the net, and thanks to such defenders as Colin Whitson, who stopped several Spartan chances.
