Seth Borden increased his national home run lead, and then topped himself by throwing a 3-hit shutout as the Chaparrals split their N4C doubleheader at Madison College, losing 7-3 and winning 1-0 on Monday.

The Chaps, 10-14 overall and 3-1 N4C, are at home Tuesday when they play Roosevelt JV of Peoria in a 9-inning game. First pitch is 1:30 p.m.

Borden connected for his 11
th home run, hitting a solo shot to left in the seventh. The hit was one of just five for the game, as COD trailed 7-1 before Borden homered.
Nick Fushi had two hits with a double, and
Nolan Pomatto also doubled for the Chaps.

Game 2: Chaps 1, Madison 0
Borden gave the Chaps exactly what they needed with a complete-game effort. He gave up three singles, struck out three and walked only two batters. The Chaps got their only run in the third.
Anthony Perez delivered a two-out single to left that brought in Pomatto, who led off the inning with a single. Fushi and
Mike Wagner each doubled for the Chaps.
