No. 6 College of DuPage battled back from a two-set deficit and nearly upset No. 1 Rock Valley in a 3-2 loss in Rockford on Tuesday night.

The Chaps, now 14-8 overall, are at Milwaukee Area TC on Thursday night.

After losing the first two sets by scores of 25-19, 25-18, the Chaps won an extended third set by a 26-24 score. They took the fourth (25-20), before losing in five, 15-12.

The fifth set was tied at 10-10 before the Eagles (16-5 overall) finished off the Chaps on a 5-2 run.

Alyssa Fountain led the Chaps in kills with 16, followed by
Grace Franz (11) and
Jessica Juerke (9).

Tolis Koskinaris said his team learned a lot from Tuesday night's near miss.

"We're not going anywhere,'' he said. "We were down 23-22 in the third set and found a way to get the lead, win and move on to tie the match at 2-2.''
