Kaashif Malik scored 33 points as the visiting Chaparrals pulled away from Harper in their 58-55 Region 4 victory Thursday night.
 
The win was COD's second straight as it takes a 6-10 overall record into Tuesday night's game at Milwaukee Area TC.
 
Malik scored 14 of COD's 18 first-half points as the Chaps trailed 19-18 at the break against the Hawks (0-20). He finished 14 of 22 from the field and hit 5 of 9 free throws.
 
The Chaparrals took control before the 10-minute mark of the second half, leading by as many as 16 points thanks to 50-percent shooting in the final 20 minutes (15 of 20). COD led for nearly 37 minutes and never trailed by more than one point.
 
Abram Ross scored 10 points with 12 rebounds, and Donnell Fraley added nine. Joe Bell scored six points with four rebounds and two steals.
