Sierra Gibson's 16 points led the Chaparrals in their 79-76 loss at Prairie State in Region 4 women's play Thursday night.
 
Katlyn Allen followed with 15 points and Mykah Berkompas added 11 for the Chaps, now 1-8 overall entering play Tuesday afternoon at Lake County.
 
The Chaps, who trailed by nine, nearly came back against the Pioneers. There were six lead changes and eight ties but Prairie State held the edge in 3-pointers (6-3) and at the free throw line (17-15).
 
The Pioneers led 33-31 at the break and extended the lead to 55-51 entering the fourth quarter.
