COD closed its spring break trip Thursday night with a resounding 11-1 victory over Penn State Fayette in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
 
The Chaps (5-1 overall) cut short their stay, canceling today's games against Mercer County CC and Chesapeake College due to impending storms predicted to hit the eastern half of the country.
 
Against PSF, the Chaps pounded 17 hits with Cliff Vickers' two doubles and Jeremy Conforti's 3-for-4 showing and two RBI keying the victory.
 
Seven starters had multiple hits with leadoff hitter A.J. Taylor and David Marshall adding two RBI apiece.
 
Leading 7-1 through four innings, the Chaps connected on five hits and scored four runs to end the game in the fifth.
 
Starter Kai Formella earned the victory, striking out two and allowing three hits and one earned run in 3.1 innings.
 
Conforti opened the season red-hot, going 13-for-19 at the plate (.684 average) with two doubles, one triple, three home runs and driving in 16 runs.
