Chaps rule the day

COD pushed its record to 8-2 overall with a doubleheader sweep over visiting Illinois Valley College on Monday.
 
The Chaps, who braved temperatures in the high 20s all day, are at Oakton College on Tuesday. First pitch is 3 p.m.
 
First game: Chaps 12, Illinois Valley 2 5 innings
COD needed only four hits and benefited from five Eagles' errors
The Chaps took advantage of eight walks and five errors in a game called after 5 innings
Carson Roberts was 3-for-4 and led with five RBI, thanks to a three-run double in the second
Roberts added a run-scoring single and a game-ending RBI-triple
Anthony Perez accounted for the Chaps' other hit — a single in the fourth
Dan Gusel, Matt Kaleta and Nolan Pomatto all contributed an RBI
LHP Frankie Klemm threw 4 innings, striking out four and walking four
 
Second game: Chaps 7, Illinois Valley 3
RHP Anthony Raineri struck out three and didn't issue a walk in his 4 innings
Evan Ryan, Cris Villwock and Joe Titone did not allow an earned run in their combined three innings of relief
