Kankakee series

A pair of one-run games left the Chaps behind in their doubleheader Saturday afternoon at Kankakee College in Region 4 softball.

The Chaps (9-15 overall) continue their busy April on this afternoon when its travels to College of Lake County. The doubleheader was originally slated for Friday at Sark Park but was canceled due to inclement weather.

Game 1: Kankakee 1, Chaparrals 0
Amber Dasenbrock threw a four-hitter, but Kankakee took advantage with a solo home run by Bailey Nay in the sixth inning. Dasenbrock struck out eight and issued just two walks. The Chaps had just three hits — a double from Vincenza Zaccaro and singles from Elena Stevenson and Paige Jahaske.

Game 2: Kankakee 5, Chaparrals 4
The Chaparrals built a 4-1 lead through three innings, but the Cavaliers rallied and tied the game at 4-4 in the fifth. They delivered the walk-off win in the seventh. For the Chaps, they scored three runs in the second on four hits. Zaccaro created a two-run double, and Gianna Maida followed with a run-scoring single. Then in the third, Dasenbrock lifted a sac fly to left that scored Elena Stevenson, who reached on a single to center. The Chaps totaled 10 hits — two each from Dasenbrock, Zaccaro and Maida.
