Alijah Nelson added 18 as the Chaps used a second-half surge in its 96-84 victory at Joliet JC in Region 4 and N4C play Thursday night.

The victory evened the Chaps' record at 11-11 heading into Tuesday night's home game against Madison College.

Trailing 42-41 at halftime, coach
Joe Kuhn's team scored 55 points in the final 20 minutes for the 12-point win.

Kuhn credited Nelson's play midway through the second half and Gaston kept the Chaps ahead late in the game.

The Chaps shot 47.8 percent from the field with just three 3-pointers. They hit 27 free throws and grabbed 49 rebounds, including 18 on offense.

Matt Elliott had a solid night with 15 points and 18 rebounds, while
Gerald Tate (14) and
Finn Walsh (13) reached double figures in scoring.
