Chaps reach 20-win threshold

College of DuPage answered back in the win column with a doubleheader sweep against visiting Olive-Harvey, 11-10 and 4-0, in Region 4 baseball Tuesday afternoon.
 
The Chaps improved to 21-9 overall and now prepare for Thursday's single game at South Suburban. The doubleheader scheduled for today at Madison has been canceled and is scheduled for May 4 in Madison.
 
Game 1: Chaps 11, Olive Harvey 10
  • COD answered back after trailing 3-0 entering its half of the first inning
  • Shane Baumgarten homered for the first time this season with a solo shot in the second
  • Leading 4-0, COD seemingly gained control with a six-run fourth
  • In the fourth, Joe Cosenza connected on a three-run homer, after Aden Aukland's RBI single
  • David Marshall launched his fourth HR of the season with a solo shot to right
  • Connor Chapulis gave COD five solid innings after the 3-run first
  • Chapulis struck out six and gave up just two hits
  • Kyle Fenner had two hits
  • Ashton Gates tripled in the fourth
 
Game 2: Chaps 4, Olive Harvey 0
  • The Chaps' Jake Spotofora threw a five-hit shutout in a game that took one hour and 36 minutes
  • The RHP struck out five and issued two walks
  • Cosenza gave COD a 2-0 lead in the first on a two-out, two-run double
  • Jason Cousineau added an RBI-double in the third
  • Josh Schubert drove in Cousineau with a two-out single in the fourth
  • Fenner and Cousineau each had two hits
  • A.J. Taylor had the other extra-base hit for COD with a double in the fourth
