Juarez makes his point with 3-goal effort in shutout

Anthony Juarez gave COD its best offensive production this season, scoring all three goals Thursday night in the Chaparrals' 3-0 win over visiting South Suburban in Region 4 men's soccer at Ullsvik Stadium.

The Chaparrals (2-6, 2-2 Region 4) snapped their five-game losing streak with the victory and now prepares for Sunday's regional game at Black Hawk. Kickoff is noon.

Juarez put COD on the scoreboard with an impressive spin move on a feed from Joe Bayliss and a point-precision shot from 30 yards in the 15th minute.

Then in the 33rd minute, he delivered another forceful kick on a no-doubter and the Chaps went into halftime with a 2-0 lead.

Four minutes into the second half, Juarez worked himself in tight near the net and scored on a header on a second-ball from Gael Alfaro for the final goal.

Juarez's four shots on the night were all on goal as COD totaled 13 shots, 10 on-goal.

Sam Negus came up time-and-again in the clutch for his first shutout of the season. He totaled 10 saves.
