The Chaparrals took control early Wednesday afternoon, scoring two goals in the opening 15 minutes of play against visiting Joliet Junior College, but it wasn't enough as it fell short 3-2 in NJCAA Region 4 men's soccer.
 
COD, now 3-7 overall and 3-3 Region 4, returns to play Wednesday afternoon in key contest against fellow-Region 4 member Kishwaukee (1-6, 1-6). Kickoff at Ullsvik Stadium is 3 p.m.
 
Luis Gutierrez got things started on a second-look shot in the 5^th minute of play.
 
Then at 15 minutes, Alan Rivas got loose, thanks to a feed from Anthony Juarez and COD led 2-0.
 
Joliet, which earned a goal in the 32^nd minute, came through with two second-half goals for the victory.
 
Goalkeeper Sam Negus played the full 90 minutes and produced seven saves.
