The College of DuPage men's soccer team earned a historic win on Sophomore Night on Oct. 22, defeating the 10-3-4 Trojans of Triton College, 3-2. The victory marked the first for the Chaps over Triton since the 2012 season. DuPage improved to 9-4-2 on the year.
Jason Hufnagle ended a strong regular season with a two-goal performance, finishing as the Chaps' leading scorer with 13 goals. Hufnagle opened the scoring just 10 minutes into play on as assist from
Luis Gutierrez.
After Triton nodded up the score before the half, Hufnagle connected on his second goal, assisted by
Rocky Nicoski-Rios. Gutierrez added to the lead in the 72nd minute with a long-range strike, assisted by Josh Ortega.
The goalkeeper for the Chaps,
Sam Eaton tallied an impressive 15 saves on 17 on-goal shots for the Trojans.
Chaps head coach Matt Hana had glowing remarks for his team's performance, stating, "Proud of our group of players. We knew we wanted to go into the playoffs with a win and the guys produced for the sophomores."
