The College of DuPage men's soccer team put on an offensive showcase at Bjarne Ullsvik Stadium on Oct. 8, defeating the Stormers of Milwaukee Area Technical College 9-4 in Glen Ellyn.
Sophomore forward
Daniel Mendez led the way with a hat trick and two assists as the Chaps found their rhythm early and never looked back.
Dominic Landato opened the scoring in the 4th minute off a feed from Mendez before
Jason Hufnagle doubled the lead in the 16th minute. Mendez added back-to-back goals in the 19th and 29th minutes to give DuPage a commanding advantage.
In the second half, Mendez completed his hat trick in the 55th minute with help from
Luis Gutierrez. Hufnagle added two more goals, including a penalty kick in the 65th minute, to notch a hat trick of his own.
Benedict Okyere and
Randy Florian each found the back of the net late to close out the scoring.
"It was nice to see our attacking combinations come together, and we were rewarded with some nice goals," head coach Matt Hana said.
DuPage will travel to Bryant & Stratton on Oct. 10 to take on the Bobcats in Milwaukee.
