The College of DuPage women's flag football team hosted a tri-match on April 4, welcoming local foe Benedictine University and Pratt Community College from Pratt, Kansas.
DuPage defeated Benedictine 15-6 to earn its second win of the year and second victory over the Eagles this season. The Chaps previously defeated Benedictine 41-0 at Halas Hall to open the season.
Quarterback Hannah Galvan opened the scoring for DuPage with a 30-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. With DuPage leading 6-0, a mishap by Benedictine resulted in a safety, giving the Chaps an 8-0 advantage.
Later in the second quarter, Kamila Raczka took a sweep from four yards out to extend the lead. Oliwia Szpryngacz converted the one-point attempt to give DuPage a 15-point lead.
Benedictine scored at the end of the third quarter but failed to convert the point-after attempt, keeping DuPage ahead by two scores. The Chaps held on to secure the 15-6 victory.
In game two, DuPage took on NJCAA member Pratt Community College.
In the first quarter, the Beavers were driving until Marissa Ritsko intercepted a deep pass for DuPage. Later near the end of the quarter, Aneibi Farias-Olaguez took a sweep and raced 75 yards down the sideline before being pulled down by a Beaver defender. On the ensuing play from the one-yard line, Galvan used a play fake to hit Ritsko for the first score of the game.
The game was tied 6-6 at halftime before the Beavers scored two consecutive touchdowns to take a 22-6 lead.
In the fourth quarter, Farias-Olaguez again sparked the Chaps offense, catching a deep pass from Galvan and getting within scoring distance before being taken down just short of the end zone. The play covered nearly 60 yards.
DuPage was unable to capitalize and fell to the Beavers 22-6.
The Chaps will be back in action April 11 in Lisle, taking on Benedictine University for a third time. DuPage will also face Illinois Wesleyan University.
