Denise McCance

Denise McCance begins her fifth season as head coach for the Chaparrals women’s basketball program in 2021-22.

She has taught and coached with more than 25 years of high school experience. She has held varsity head coaching positions at Macomb High School and Westmont High School, and served as an assistant at Conant, West Chicago and Wheaton Warrenville South. She was named the Macomb Journal Coach of the Year in 1997, and received an Illinois Basketball Coaches Association District honor in 2001.

A three-sport athlete at Conant HS, she went on to play at NCAA Division I Northern Illinois. Her 1989-90 team, which finished the season ranked No. 17 and led the country in scoring, was inducted into the NIU Athletics Hall of Fame in in 2005.

She currently teaches health, physical education and driver’s education at Wheaton Warrenville South High School. She is a member of the Women's Basketball Coaches Association, Illinois Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance, and Illinois School Health Association. 
 
Denise and her husband Dusty are the parents of four children: Dusty Jr. (24), Ashley (22), Connor (20) and Tyler (17). Ashley is a graduate assistant coach at the University of Mary in Bismarck, N.D., and Connor plays basketball at Northern Michigan University. The family make its home in Montgomery.
