GLEN ELLYN (Oct. 20, 2019) —
A quick strike offense set the tone all Sunday afternoon for the Chaparrals, who routed the Carthage Junior Varsity 47-0 in nonconference football at Bjarne Ullsvik Stadium.

The victory evened the Chaps' record at 4-4 heading into their Oct. 28 home game against the Olivet Nazarene JV.

All six touchdowns were earned from at least 29 yards and the longest scoring drive for COD took just less than three minutes against the Red Men.

The Chaps scored on five of their nine possessions in the opening quarter. Jaden Lacy capped the Chaps' second drive of the quarter, scoring from 49 yards with 9:32 remaining. Two possessions later, Isaiah Nwokenkwo struck with a 59-yard TD run on a first-and-10 play from the Carthage 41 and COD led 14-0 after one quarter.

The Chaps added three more TDs in the second quarter. Darrell Smith scored the first of his two tallies on a 45-yard run, and then added another from 36 and the Chaps pushed the lead to 27-0.

Then QB Benjamin Little Jr. connected with Torre Butts Jr. on a 29-yard scoring pass and the Chaps led 33-0 at halftime.

After a scoreless third quarter, the final quarter featured a QB Tom Vatter TD pass to WR Jordan Robertson for 46 yards. Dylan Thaxton closed the scoring with a 64-yard TD run with 5 minutes remaining in the contest.

Nwokenkwo led the Chaps in rushing with 103 yards on just four carries. Smith followed with 101 yards on four carries. Thaxton gained 85 yards on two carries and D'Onte Gholston rushed for 60 yards on eight carries.
