A young Chaparrals squad played a more inspired second half in their 74-64 loss to visiting Prairie State in NJCAA Region IV men's basketball Saturday afternoon.

Evan Wagner-Talley followed with 11 and 10 rebounds.
Latron Kirkwood was next with nine points.

The second half
The Chaparrals trailed by as many as 21 points in the first half, and played better ball after trailing 60-40 with 7:54 remaining. They outscored the Pioneers 24-10 with three 3s — one each from Davis,
Patrick Shaughnessy and Kirkwood. Wagner-Talley converted on and-one for his three-point play.

What's next?
The Chaps are at home Tuesday night when they take on Division III foe Elgin Community College. They wrap-up the week Saturday at home against Waubonsee College.
