The Chaparrals faced their first Division III opponent of the season in Elgin Community College on Tuesday night. Elgin earned a 74-66 victory against a Chaps' team that made strides.

Evan Wagner-Talley led the Chaps (0-6 overall) with 17 points and 10 rebounds — his fifth double-figure rebound effort of the season.
Isaiah Davis followed with 16 with
Ty'maree Watson 14 and Khryre Hines 13.

In the second half
The game was tied four times in the final 20 minutes of play, but the Chaps never had a lead. A free throw from Davis put the Chaps within one possession of the lead at 67-64 with 52 seconds left. The Spartans answered back on a three-point play by Ben Versluys and his team pulled away.

The Chaps are at home Saturday against Waubonsee College. Tipoff is 2 p.m.
