A back-and-forth contest turned in favor of visiting Prairie State late in the game cost the Chaparrals in their 60-56 loss in NJCAA Region IV women's basketball Saturday afternoon.

Nichele Lodree led the Chaps (3-3 overall) with 16 points with a pair of 3-pointers. She also had nine rebounds as the Chaps totaled 45 boards in the loss.
Jaylyn Grant scored 15 points before fouling out in the final quarter.

Difference makers
A 10-2 run midway through the third quarter gave the visiting Pioneers some cushion. Howeer, the Chaps fought through and tied the game 50-50 on
Jessica Schoder's basket with 6:57 left in the game. But the Pioneers followed with a 5-0 spurt that put the game away

Sophomore
Allycia Ellis nearly had a double-double with nine points and 11 rebounds.
Lauren Day led the Chaps off the glass with 12 boards including six on the offensive end. She had eight points.

The Chaps remain at home next week with games against Elgin Community College (Tuesday) and Waubonsee College (Saturday).
