The final week of March is turning into a split decision for the Chaparrals, who earned a third straight split doubleheader after Wednesday's games at Elgin Community College.

The Chaps dropped the opener 4-3 on a walk-off single, and came back for an 8-6 win in the second that was called after six innings.

Game 1: Elgin 4, Chaparrals 3
Bobby O'Donnell led the Chaps with a 3-for-4 effort at the plate but they totaled only four hits and lost when Elgin scored two runs in the seventh.

Anthony Fumagalli doubled for the Chaps.
Corey Vondra and
Jack Howard each had an RBI.

Elijah Rochon earned the start and struck out a season-high eight in six innings. He gave up three hits and allowed two runs with just one earned.

Game 2: Chaparrals 8, Elgin 6
The Chaps trailed 4-2 after five innings before gaining control with a six-run sixth and held on for the victory.

Howard led the Chaps with two of their six hits. He had two RBI with a double.
Simon Marinelli had an RBI double.

Anthony Hernandez threw five innings and gave up seven hits with five strikeouts for the victory.
Austin Reed earned his first save win an inning of relief.
