JOLIET — The Chaparrals grabbed an early advantage, scoring four runs in the first inning in their 4-3 win over Joliet in Tuesday's N4C Conference finale.
Earlier, the Chaps had their six-game winning streak end in a 4-2 loss to the Wolves. College of DuPage, now 20-13-1 overall and 8-2 in league play, take on visiting Kankakee on Thursday in a 9-inning game.
Game 1:
Joliet scored three runs on four hits off starter
Elijah Rochon in the opening inning and the Chaps could not overcome the deficit.
T.J. Jaros put the Chaps on the scoreboard with a run-scoring single that scored
Peter Sedlacek. The Wolves pushed the lead 4-1 through four innings until Sedlacek scored on a wild pitch in the fifth. Sedacek was 2-for-3 with a double. Rochon threw two innings.
Game 2:
Three of the Chaps' four runs were unearned, and starter
Tommy Louch made sure the lead stood. The Wolves answered with three in their half of the first and the teams played scoreless ball for the remainder of the game.
Dan Opem had two of the Chaps' five hits. Louch struck out four and allowed six hits in 6 1/3 innings.
Anthony Hernandez earned the save with two strikeouts.
