Chaps, Prairie State

Kiara Negron homered and drove in four RBI in the opener, and Ashley Eiermann totaled three RBI in the nightcap, but the Chaparrals were turned back by identical 10-7 scores in their doubleheader at Prairie State on Friday.
 
The Chaps, now 10-33 overall, are scheduled to play at Illinois Central on Saturday, weather permitting.
 
Game 1: Prairie State 10, Chaps 7
Negron connected on a two-run home run in the fifth and tied the game at 6-6, but a grand slam from Prairie State in the fifth turned out to be the difference maker. Kate Koska led the Chaps with three hits, and Vincenza Zaccaro doubled. In addition to her home run, Negron added a double as did Eiermann.
 
Game 2: Prairie State 10, Chaps 7
A two-run single from Negron in the sixth tied the game 7-7 in the fifth, but the hosts answered with three runs of their own in the sixth. Andrea Richards and Sarah Crosby joined Eiermann with two hits. Both Crosby and Eiermann doubled.
