The Chaparrals followed up a tough loss with a sound victory in their nonconference split at Carl Sandburg College on Friday. They lost the opener 11-7 and finished the day with a 9-4 victory.

College of DuPage, now 6-17, returns to Sark Park on Saturday when they play host to Kankakee College. First pitch is noon.

About the opener
Andrea Richards led the Chaps at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI, but the host Chargers put the game out of reach with a six-run fifth inning. Richards' double was the Chaps' only extra-base hit.
Gaby Morales had a pair of RBI, and both
Ashley Eiermann and
Sarah Crosby scored two runs each.
Karen Martini had three strikeouts in four innings.

A 3-0 Chaps lead was extended with a six-run seventh and Martini scattered eight hits with seven strikeouts in a complete game. Six Chaps had at least two hits.
