The Chaparrals performed at a much better level Saturday, losing 3-0 in a tight match against St. Cloud Technical College and winning 3-0 against Black Hawk College.

The victory snapped their three-match losing streak as they take a 3-8 overall record and 1-0 N4C slate into Wednesday night's home match against conference foe Madison College.

The Chaparrals were defeated 26-24, 25-19, 25-17 against the Cyclones, but played much more inspired by extending their opponent in the first set.

Mikayla Wassell led with 10 kills with
Natalie Payne earning seven and
Brili Presbrey six.
Melody Raices set up 19 of the team's 26 kills.
Maddie Shulski had 14 digs and Wassell had 11.

Natalie Payne was outstanding against the Braves, leading in kills with 17 and hitting .625 (17/2/24). As a team, the Chaps hit .321 with 36 kills and only 11 attack errors.

On the serve, the Chaps achieved a season-high aces (15), thanks to
Kiara Negron's five and Shulski's four. Shulski added 11 digs.

"We played our best volleyball of the year today,'' Chaps head coach
Tolis Koskinaris said. "Even in the loss to St. Cloud, I thought we had some of our best execution so for. And we were very strong in all three sets against Black Hawk.''
