Chaps, Illinois Valley tennis

The Chaps competed with a full team Wednesday afternoon in their 7-2 loss to visiting Illinois Valley College at the COD courts.

"We competed as a full team and I thought we looked good,'' head coach Jim Bowers said. "We had several close matches where we had some chances. The women continue to work real hard, and we can build on our strengths and polish up on our weaknesses and hope we'll improve the next time we play them.''

The Chaps won at No. 2 singles with Alison McKenney earning a 6-0, 6-3 victory. At No. 5 singles, Merit Allendorfer earned a 6-3, 7-6 victory.

The Chaps next compete Sept. 21 at home against Bryant and Stratton.
