The Chaparrals utilized their best scoring output of the season at the most opportune time.
 
Balanced scoring and rebounding prowess produced an 82-59 victory over visiting Harper College in Wednesday night's NJCAA Region IV Division III quarterfinal victory at the Physical Education Center Arena.
 
Next up for the Chaps (8-21 overall) is a match-up against top-seed Rock Valley in Saturday's semifinals, played at COD. Tipoff is 6 p.m.
 
Coach William Anderson's team never trailed and reached the 80-point mark for just the second time this season. Six Chaps scored in double figures, led by Abram Ross's 14 points. Patrick Shaughnessy followed with 13, Joe Bell 12, Latron Kirkwood 11, Evan Wagner-Talley 11, and Khyre Hines with 10. Austin Esterly had nine.
 
Both Ross and Shaughnessy earned double-doubles with 10 and 11 rebounds, respectively.
 
The Chaps led by 17 at halftime, and despite Harper's six 3-pointers in the final 20 minutes, the lead never dipped below nine.
 
Seven Chaps earned assists with Shaughnessy's six leading the way. Kirkwood dealt five.
 
Defensively, Esterly had five steals along with six boards.
 
The Chaps' previous scoring high was their 80-79 win at Madison on Jan. 15.
