Tolis Koskinaris figured that five long rallies were the difference makers in the Chaparrals' 3-0 win over Joliet in Region 4 volleyball Tuesday night.
Â
"You want to win those types of rallies,'' he said of rallied that involve close to 30 touches. "We won four of them and those factored into our victory.''
Â
All 15 Chaps saw action against the Wolves as it marked their third victory over Joliet this season.
Â
Alyssa Fountain had 11 kills for the No. 5 Chaps, now 17-9 overall entering Saturday's play at South Suburban in the annual Dig for a Cure Day. The Chaps also play Southeastern Community College to close the day.
Â
Emily DeBlecourt had eight kills and
Grace Franz seven.
Â
Olivia Witek had four blocks with one solo. "We fed off the energy from being home in the first time in a month,'' she said. "Everyone plays better when we're at home.''
Â
Cheyanne Oftedahl contributed nine digs along with two assists. "It's the third time we've faced Joliet this season,'' she said. "Every time we face them we know it's going to be a tough match. We played hard and together and came out on top.''
Â
Vanessa Silva had one of the Chaps' six service aces and helped the team to the 25-17, 25-22, 25-23 victory. "Tolis and our coaches do a great job of getting everyone involved,'' she said. "We're entering our stretch drive in regular season and we're finding ways at getting better.''
