Freshman Mykah Berkompas led the Chaps with 18 points and teammate Makenna Brown added 11, but visiting Triton made use of its early momentum in handing COD a 74-56 loss in the season opener for both teams.
 
The Chaps trailed 19-14 at the end of the first quarter and 44-32 at halftime.
 
Depth and inside play were the difference makers against the Chaps. Triton outscored COD's bench 15-5 and in the paint, outscored the Chaps 26-16.
 
Jessica Ponce and Marquita Gardner each scored eight points, while Nya Jones added six and Katlyn Allen five.
