A strong third quarter played into the Chaps' success Thursday night in their 68-65 victory at Prairie State in Region 4 women's basketball.
 
The Chaps, now 2-6 overall, are off until Dec. 17 when they play host to McHenry County.
 
Makenna Brown led three Chaps in double figures, scoring 22 points with 16 rebounds. Mykah. Berkompas followed with 21 that included three 3-pointers and 
Marquita Gardner had 19.
 
The Chaps led 32-27 at halftime, and then pulled away by outscoring the Pioneers 22-11 in third quarter.
 
Paige Mixson added four points in just her second game with the Chaps and 
Natali Cabrera had two.
