Sophomore
Jack Oberli led the Chaps at the plate with three hits, and
Nick Fushi continued his fine play with the bat, but host and Region 4 Divison I leader South Suburban went on to win 9-5 on Friday.

The Chaps are at Kankakee College on Saturday.

Fushi's two-run double in the third gave the Chaps a 3-2 lead and they closed the inning with a 4-2 lead.

But South Suburban answered with a three-run third, and extended the lead to 8-4 in the fifth with a three-run inning.

Cliff Vickers and
Mike Wagner also doubled for the Chaps, who were out-hit 13-9.

Fushi's effort capped a solid week, as he is hitting 8-for-15 (.533) in his last seven games.

Through 16 games, the Chaps are 5-11 overall, yet hold a 3-5 record in region play and 2-1 against fellow D3 teams.

South Suburban starter Conor Tomasic, a Purdue bounce-back, struck out nine in six innings.
