Chaps, Lake County split

Carlee Baker keyed the Chaps with a two-run, inside-the-park home run in the opener and Amber Dasenbrock dazzled on the mound and at the plate in the nightcap as the Chaps split a doubleheader at College of Lake County on Friday, losing 7-6 and winning 9-6 in Region 4 softball.

The Chaps, now 3-1 overall, make their home debut Saturday against Gogebic (Mich.). First pitch is 2 p.m.

Game 1: Lake County 7, Chaps 6
The Lancers won the game in walk-off fashion, thanks to a pair of bunts and eventually a run-scoring single with no outs in the seventh.

Baker connected on her homer in the fifth, tying the game at 3-3. The Chaps got back into the game in the sixth, thanks to a three-run, four-hit inning that tied the game at 6-6. Back-to-back RBIs from Hanah Nickrand and Gianna Maida were the key plays.
