The Chaparrals turned around a hard-luck loss by outlasting host Joliet Junior College in a slugfest and earned a split in N4C and Region 4 softball.

COD (14-8, 5-1 N4C) is at Kankakee College on Saturday and returns to Sark Park on Tuesday against Madison College.

Amber Dasenbrock allowed just four hits to keep the Chaps in the game. Joliet scored its runs on a solo home run and on a ground-ball error.
Kelsey Warren supplied the Chaps with two of their four hits, but the Chaps lacked the big hit. They stranded 10 runners on base.

The victory was a big one as the Chaps took the regular-season series, 2 games to 1 with the victory.
Hanah Nickrand connected on a sacrifice fly that drove in
Carlee Baker and the Chaps led 11-10 after six innings. In the seventh, they scored four runs on two hits and benefited from three Wolves' errors.
Paige Jahaske came through with a two-run single to right that keyed the inning.
