A seven-run third inning by top-seed Oakton laid the groundwork in the visiting Chaps' 11-6 loss Friday night in an NJCAA Region 4, Division III baseball semifinal game.

COD (27-22) awaits the winner of the Joliet-Milwaukee Area TC game for the right to face Oakton on Championship Sunday. The Wolves and Stormers play at noon Saturday. The Chaps' game begins approximately at 3 p.m.

Cliff Vickers gave the Chaps a 1-0 lead in the first, scoring on an error. In the third, a sacrifice bunt from
Seth Borden scored Vickers, and
Anthony Perez later doubled to score
Nick Fushi and COD led 3-1.

The pivotal third inning from Oakton put it in control for the duration.

Jack Oberli continued his hot-hitting, going 3-for-5. Perez and
Mike Wagner each had two hits. Borden drove in three runs.

On the mound, Borden took the loss. He gave up eight runs — five earned — and walked four in 2.1 innings.
