Freshman
Amber Dasenbrock gave her team quick leads in their Region 4 title games at Rock Valley on Wednesday, but the Golden Eagles showed why they have dominated play in the last eight years as they went on to defeat the Chaps, 14-2 and 11-3 in title play.
Â
The Chaps, now 18-17, are awaiting a possible at-large berth to the national championship tournament, set for May 27-29 in Syracuse, N.Y. The tournament field will be announced Monday.
Â
Game 1: Rock Valley 14, Chaparrals 2
After Dasenbrock delivered with her two-run home run, the Golden Eagles went to work. They scored 14 unanswered runs. Dasenbrock and
Sydney Sturino each had two hits.
Kelsey Warren accounted for the other hit.
Â
Game 2: Rock Valley 11, Chaparrals 3
Dasenbrock took care of putting the Chaps on the board quickly, this time hitting a 3-run homer in the first. But the Golden Eagles put aside that quick spurt by the Chaps and went on to win the title.
Â
Warren walked to lead-off the game and
Ashley Eiermann reached on an error and that set the tone for Dasenbrock's homer.
Â
Dasenbrock and
Carlee Baker had two hits each.
Nicole Brace had the other hit.
