Chaps take 2 at South Suburban

No. 2 College of DuPage improved its record to 23-2 overall and unbeaten in Region 4 play after taking a pair of matches Saturday afternoon at South Suburban.
 
The Chaps participated in SSC's annual "Dig for a Cure" day with a 3-1 win over the host Bulldogs and then defeated Lake Michigan 3-2.
 
COD travels to Rockford on Tuesday for a match against D2 member Rock Valley. It plays at Harper on Thursday and then plays host to College of Lake County on Saturday night, beginning at 6 p.m.
 
Chaps 3, South Suburban 1
Olivia Witek and Alyssa Fountain each led in kills with 11 in COD's 25-22, 17-25, 25-22, 25-18 victory. The Chaps totaled 39 kills in their four-set win. Serving was at a premium as Cyd Martinez dealt six service aces and Payton Litney added five in the victory. Litney led in digs (12) and Martinez (12) and Chloey Myers (10) were the others in double figures.
 
Chaps 3, Lake Michigan 2
The Chaps and RedHawks went the distance in the five-set match, with COD taking a 25-13, 25-21, 20-25, 24-26, 19-17 victory. Myers led in kills with 27 and Fountain (14) and Witek (13) were next on the attack. The Chaps started strong with a .379 attack percentage and then play became much tighter in the following four sets. Myers had four service aces and Litney added three. COD totaled 81 digs with Martinez ahead of the pack with 17. Tan had 15 and Alonzo 14.
