Your 2022 N4C and Region 4 regular-season champs

The road to the NJCAA Region IV volleyball title will begin Thursday night as the No. 4-ranked Chaparrals wrapped up the top seed and hosting rights in a 3-0 win over No. 14 Joliet on Tuesday.

The Chaps (27-3) earned the regional regular-season title and the N4C title, their first since COD Hall of Fame coach LuAnn Zimmick's final season in 2003.

The Region IV tournament begins Thursday night with the top-seeded Chaps facing No. 4 Madison or Milwaukee Area TC. No. 2 seed Joliet hosts No. 3 Harper in the other semifinal match.

The regional final will be played at noon, Oct. 29 at the remaining high seed. The regional champion advances to the NJCAA D3 national championship tournament, Nov. 10-12 in Rochester, Minn.

"It sets us up well to play at home, where we're unbeaten,'' Chaps head coach Tolis Koskinaris said. "It'll be a competitive round of regional play. Our region is tough where everyone is tested.''

The one-sided 25-18, 25-15, 25-12 belonged all night to the Chaps, who were .337 on the attack (38 kills, 7 errors, 92 attacks).

Chloey Myers led the way with 15 kills and hit .500 on just one attack error in 28 attacks. She also had two aces, and seven digs that led to 17 points.

"Chloey was locked in on the floor all night,'' Koskinaris said. "It seemed like every time we needed a kill, she delivered.''

Alyssa Fountain hit .355 with 12 kills, 1 error, 31 attack with two aces, and one solo block.

Both Olivia Witek and Ava Garcia had five kills.

Cyd Martinez led in aces with three as COD totaled 10. Defensively, she led in digs with 13.

Ashley Bylsma led in assists with 32 and Jaidyn Tan served two aces.
