Drew Gaston led COD with 19 points and Kendall Cross came off the bench with 13, but host Aurora JV controlled the second half and dealt the Chaps a 74-71 loss Sunday in men's basketball.
 
The Chaps had their three-game winning streak snapped and return to Region 4 play this week with games at Morton (Tuesday) and Prairie State (Thursday).
 
Guard Derome White was the only other Chap in double figures with 10 points. Matt Elliott had nine points, 10 rebounds and five assists, and Jacob Lim hit three 3-pointers for nine points.
 
Gaston led on defense with six steals and also dealt five assists. Cross joined Lim with three 3s.
 
The Spartans, who trailed 34-31 at halftime, outscored the Chaps 43-37 in the final 20 minutes.
