No. 2 Chaps lose at the horn vs. D1 Georgia Military

WR Matthew Brown hauled in two TD receptions against Georgia Military.
MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. — No. 2 ranked College of DuPage controlled three quarters of football Saturday at Georgia Military College, but the host Bulldogs got the upper-hand in the final quarter and dealt the Chaps a 24-21 loss in NJCAA play.
 
The Chaps, who finished the regular season 8-2 overall, now await the NJCAA announcement for the NJCAA D3 Championship at the Red Grange Bowl, scheduled for Dec. 3 at COD's Bjarne Ullsvik Stadium.
 
Three first-half touchdown passes from Gavin Sukup gave COD a 21-6 halftime lead. He delivered a 35-yard strike to Vince Brown in the first quarter, and then twice found Matthew Brown in the second half — the first for 17 yards and the second from 14 as COD built its lead.
 
GMC rallied with 18 fourth-quarter points, capped by a 35-yard field goal from Daniel Gibbs on the final play of the game.
 
Sukup was 15 of 22 passing for 189 yards. His 3 TDs were offset by his first interception of the season, coming in the third quarter.
 
Sukup led in rushing with 88 yards on 13 carries. Jaden McGill gained 47 yards, and both Brian Trobel and Samson Zander gained 44 yards apiece.
 
Matthew Brown totaled 47 yards on four receptions along with his two TDs.
 
On defense, Guy Goss totaled 11 tackles with eight solos, and linebacker Michael Walker totaled 10 tackles with five solos.

Week No. 11 Poll
With both the Minnesota College Athletic Conference and COD concluding their regular seasons, the NJCAA announced its Week No. 11 poll with MCAC  champion North Dakota State College of Science No. 1 and the Chaps ranked second.

The Wildcats of Wahpeton, N.D., defeated then No. 1-ranked Minnesota State of Fergus Falls 19-0 on Sunday. Science was ranked third in last week's poll.
