A tough first half forced the Chaparrals to play from behind in Wednesday's 79-42 loss at Southwestern Michigan in women's basketball.

The host Roadrunners built leads of 25-9 after the opening quarter and 47-15 at halftime. The Chaps narrowed the gap, outscoring their foe 17-10 in the third.

Mykah Berkompas led the Chaps wih 12 points and
Sierra Gibson added 10.
Katlyn Allen led with six rebounds in addition to her six points.
Delmarea Willis added seven points.

The Roadrunners hit nearly 60 percent from the floor (19-for-32) in the first 20 minutes of play.
